BlackBerry Q5 will sport a 3.1 inch LCD TFT screen with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels, thus giving you a pixel density of 329 pixels per inches. This is excellent quality display. Q10 also has same resolution and pixel density in its display but the display type is Super AMOLED rather than TFT LCD. BlackBerry Q5 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual core processor which is backed by a 2GB RAM. This combination will be sufficient enough for smooth UI transitions and to avoid any lag during multitasking. The processor specifications are also similar to Q10. This phone also employs the latest BB10 operating system. Internal memory of this device is 8 GB which is extendable up to 64 GB. This phone has a 5 MP camera primary camera with LED flash for low light photography, capable of 1080 p video recording along with a 2 MP camera at front for video calling which can record 720 p videos. Most manufacturers will give you at least 8 MP primary cameras at this price range. Q10 has a primary camera of 8MP. Other features include 3G, Wi-Fi, LTE and Bluetooth. Blackberry Q10 had complete MapMyIndia suite for free, same thing is expected from BlackBerry Q5. It also comes with a built-in digital compass. It has a non removable 2180 mAh battery(Q10 has 2100 mAh battery) which will be sufficient enough to carry you through the day. With its sales dipping it is a smart move by BlackBerry to launch a mid range phone. Earlier its BB10 O.S. was available only in high end phones costing more than 40,000 INR. Many manufactures are now days offering better hardware specifications at this price range. It will be interesting to see how far its brand value will sail it through.
