Design and Display
HTC Desire 816 is meant for those looking for large form factor. It is not metallic like the flagship One M8, but the plastic used is of good quality. The Glossy back cover is a finger print magnet and the dual frontal speaker area has matte finish.
Power button and volume rocker is present on the right edge of the device and on the right side, you will get MicroSD card slot and dual SIM slots neately covered under a single flap. Headphone jack is at the top. The design language will remind you of iPhone 5c and HTC One and will give you a premium feel in hand
The 5.5 Inch Super LCD 2 display is again an impressive one from HTC. It is bright and crisp and sports 720p HD resolution. The viewing angles were good and so was the color reproduction.
Camera and Internal Storage
The camera module present at the rear has a 13 MP BSI sensor with F2.2 aperture and 28nm lens. In practice we did like the camera performance. Colour reproduction was pretty good and so were the details. Overall, you won’t be disappointed with the camera.
The rear camera is capable of recording full HD videos where as the front shooter with 5 MP sensor can record HD videos. It also features wide f2.8 aperture and will be appealing to selfie lovers. Internal storage is 8 GB and can be further extended by 128 GB using MicroSD support. That leaves plenty for most basic users. We would have loved to see 16 GB on board, but the expandable 8 GB is in no way a deal breaker.
Battery, OS and Chipset
The non removable battery is rated at 2600 mAh and HTC claims this will offer 21 hours of talk time and 737 hours of standby time on 3G, which seems decent enough. The processor employed is Snapdragon 400 quad core chipset with 4 Cortex A7 cores at 1.7 GHz. The chipset has proved its metal in the past and HTC has paired it with 1.5 GB RAM which will ensure smooth multitasking.
We didn’t notice any lag in our initial time with the device. The HTC Sense 6 UI was very fast and responsive. We the android skin is similar to what is present on HTC One M8 and will enhance your android experience.
