Commenting on the launch, Sushmita Das, Country Manager – India at Kobian Pte Ltd said, “mTAB10 is a gigantic entry in our advanced technology tablets. This tablet will address the growing demands of youth seeking light, stylish and comfortable device at competitive process. Mercury range of tablets ensures superior performance, power management and exciting features allowing the user with an enriched experience” This tablet features a 10.1 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, which is not very impressive on this size display. The 7 inch Mercury mTAB star features same resolution, but with the increase in size, clarity will suffer in this tablet. The processor again remains same at 1.2 GHz Dual core based on Cortex A7 ARM architecture which makes this tablet fit only for general purpose usage. The ram capacity has been enhanced to 1 GB and the internal storage is 8GB. The Internal storage is above average and can be further extended to 32 GB using microSD card. The primary camera in this tablet is of 2 MP and a front VGA camera is also available for those interested in Video calling. This tablet does not bear a SIM card slot and 3G will be supported via external dongle. The battery capacity is 5200 mAh and can be expected to last around 4 to 5 hours with moderate usage. Other connectivity features include WiFi, HDMI Out and USB 2.0. Overall, this tablet brings nothing new to the table and is meant for general purpose usage only. It will appeal to those users who have to indulge in basic social networking and reading activities and prefer large display real estate. The pricing will be specified once the tablet is available on the shelves. To make this device competitive kobian will have to restrict the pricing in the vicinity of 10,000 INR.
