Build Quality, Design and Form Factor
The build quality is best thing about the new canvas 4 as it scores highest in this segment as compared to the other phones which falls in the same price bracket till now, design of the phone is such that it perfectly fits in one hand does not feel big and the aluminum chassis around the edges does give it a premium look and also make it stronger to survive the falls. It has a nice slim profile with device thickness only around 8.9 millimeter and weigh around 158 grams which is an average weight and does not feel heavy with time.
Display, Memory and Battery Backup
The display technology remains the same as it has the 720p IPS LCD capacitive display which is adequately vibrant and feel right on the number of the pixels you have on the display so that you don’t notice pixilation, it has got 294 pixels per inch over 5 inch display. The memory has got a major upgrade on the new canvas 4 which was a major problem for the canvas HD users no it comes with 16Gb storage and you get around 10 Gb approx available for installing apps and games, you also have Micro SD card slot which allows you to expand the storage of the device upto 32 Gb and you can also install apps on the SD card using it as internal memory. The battery backup is around one day with moderate usage, but if you enable the gesture features you will see lesser battery backup on the device in most of the usage scenario it will last upto to one day or around 9-10 hours with full charge.
Software, Benchmarks and Gaming
The software has been a key factor in canvas 4 although there is no custom UI on top of android, the only customizations we could see was in the form of icons but Micromax has added some new gesture features in this time like Upside Silent, Upside Speaker, Proximity Answer Call and Proximity Call, we have explained all these features in a video. Micromax has also added a custom video player which gives you a some real good features to have a better multimedia experience on this phone while watching multimedia content. Benchmark Scores

Camera Performance
The front camera is 5 MP and it is quite good for HD video chat. Rear Camera performs slightly better in natural light where as in indoor photos you will see some noise and softness and you can take macro shot from the back camera which is 13 MP AF but make sure you hold the device at the right distance and use tap to focus to focus while taking macro photos. Camera Samples
Sound, Video and Navigation
The sound quality from the loud speaker is quite loud as we heard while playing some videos but due to the design the loudspeaker might get blocked when you place the device on a flat surface. The device can play HD videos as 720 and 1080p without any audio video lag. Although this device does not have the magnetic sensor but you can use navigation with the help of assisted GPS but GPS locking will take some amount of time, we will soon do a video on the same.

Conclusion and Price
Micromax Canvas 4 comes at an MRP of 17,990 INR which is little bit high but you can get it at a lower price but don’t expect major hardware upgrade compared to the A116 but still it has got some good points like good build quality, more user available memory and higher megapixel camera on the basis of which we would like to recommend this over A116 or any other smartphones.
